Waste and Recycling Update

This is just a quick note to say that the recovery process of the Waste and Recycling is in full effect. Drivers have been drafted in from other departments, several of the old vehicles have been put back into use, rental vehicles have been out today and two more wagons are arriving tomorrow (9th). Every spare vehicle, such as caged flatbeds, are also supporting the recovery if we have the drivers to do so. The target is to ensure that all Christmas Day and Boxing Day waste and recycling is in by end of play tomorrow (9th) with a mop-up team on standby for Wednesday for any missed.

The current schedule suggests that after Wednesday we will be 15,000 collections behind across the Borough from a position of over 40,000 collections behind, with the service coming into normal operating criteria through next week.

As multiple vehicles may be used for collections in certain areas, the accuracy of the online reporting is likely to be compromised as the system is not designed for splitting vehicles. The priority is to get the waste and recycling in and the service back to normal limits.
