The Labour candidate for May 2024 in Blunsdon & Highworth is Ian James.  Ian is hoping to become the sole Labour Councillor for the area, giving the ward the representation it deserves.

Ian has lived in Highworth for over 40 years and has been an active member of our community. He is a retired Chartered Accountant and spent many years as a Citizens Advice Bureau advisor and trustee. He was a governor of New College and Great Western Hospital. He is now a member of Westrop Surgery patient participation group, and is on the committee of Visit Highworth.

Ian was a leading member of the “Save Swindon Libraries” campaign which was successful in keeping Highworth’s library open when the Conservatives wanted to close it.

He has worked for several years on local community projects to help keep Highworth a vibrant and sustainable town to live in.

He has canvassed extensively in Highworth, Blunsdon and the surrounding villages to understand the issues that matter to local people.

If elected Ian would be a hardworking, pragmatic, and approachable Councillor and, now that we have a Labour Borough Council, he looks forward to being able to raise your issues directly with them.
