The Labour candidate for May 2024 in Covingham & Dorcan is Rebecca Banwell-Moore.  Rebecca is hoping to become the sole Labour Councillor for the area, giving the ward the representation it deserves. Rebecca says:

“I have been selected as the Borough council candidate for the Covingham and Dorcan ward (which includes Nythe and North Liden). I have lived in Swindon with my family for the past 30 years. I started my working life at WH Smith in Greenbridge before embarking on my academic journey. I am now an academic Criminologist (PhD) working on how best how best to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour and support victims of crime. My research influences social policy at local, national and international level. I work collectively and collaboratively to make a difference to our society locally and nationally and to deliver much needed social change. As a mother to three young adults and a criminologist I am hugely aware of the challenges our younger generation face.

I serve on South Swindon Parish Council, as a parish councillor for Lawn and Badbury Park. I am committed to being a hard working responsive and accessible councillor. I care deeply about my community and I love getting out and about, meeting and talking to residents, listening to their concerns and helping to resolve issues. If I am elected next year I aim to work with residents and the local parish council  to tackle the problems that matter most to local people in Covingham and Dorcan.

I am determined to help build a better Swindon, to engage with and listen to residents, to support communities, to build a safe, cohesive, inclusive and progressive community for all.”
